HOUSTON: TxDot has reported that Katy Freeway West will be shut down in both directions on Monday, April 18th. Bad news for commuters, especially after the gas leak that halted traffic on the busy freeway Wednesday. TxDot has released little information regarding the shut-down, but here’s what we know so far.
The shut-down of the freeway will last from 4 AM Sunday night, to 9 PM Monday evening. The cause must be big, because TxDot rarely denies to disclose the reason for a freeway closure, especially closures lasting longer than 4 hours.
One of the longest shut-downs the freeway has ever seen, and traffic is sure to be an absolute mess, even by Houston standards.
We will update this page as new information is released.
